Lerners is seeking an Accounting Clerk to support the Accounting team in the London, Ontario office. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of previous experience working in accounts payable/receivable, with general accounting procedures, and be driven and able to work with minimal supervision. The role requires a client-oriented individual with the ability to meet all client deadlines in a timely and accurate fashion. The Accounting Clerk will need to manage multiple priorities as well as demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills. The Accounting Clerk will work on day-to-day matters, establishing their own priorities but adhering to firm operating policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will also enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment. This is a Hybrid position and currently requires a minimum of 2 days in office per week or as required to carry out the duties of the Accounting position. Primary Responsibilities:

  • reviewing and processing accounts payable, including firm credit cards and general cheques, in accordance with firm policies and within deadlines
  • managing Bank Reconciliations
  • voiding stale dated cheques and notifying responsible parties
  • recording cash receipts
  • recording write offs
  • acting as a backup for banking, vendor code set ups, and petty cash
  • processing various disbursements on files
  • providing assistance and backup support as required with billing functions
  • filing
  • other special projects as required
Qualifications:
  • at least two (2) years of related experience, preferably within a law firm
  • a working knowledge of accounts payable and general accounting procedures
  • experience in accounts payable/ accounts receivable
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • strong mathematical and problem solving skills
  • ability to ensure firm policies and control procedures are met
  • excellent interpersonal and client service skills
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • keen attention to detail
  • time management and multitasking skills
  • initiative and an ability to work effectively individually and as a part of a team
  • ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • ability to work with minimal supervision
  • flexibility to work overtime, if requested
  • proficiency with Elite 3E would be an asset
