Job Description


CAMI's mandate is to promote and motivate the English-speaking community of the Magdalen Islands by encouraging the enhancement and strengthening of networks within the English-speaking and French-speaking communities, thereby promoting community vitality and supporting community development in the areas of health and social services, education, economic development, arts and cultural and heritage preservation. We are looking for an Accounting Technician to join our team and provide support to our accounting department. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all accounting and financial processes, and maintenance of filing systems (paper & digital) are taken care of:
Accounting and bookkeeping: (accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger entries, bank reconciliation, credit card expense report reconciliation, cash applications, collections, and payroll/record of employment for employees)
Timely and accurate financial processing: (month end close, cash management reports, timesheet management for staff, balance sheet reconciliation, and audit)
Logistics (orders for suppliers) and accounting for projects undertaken
  • Ensuring that service quotes for the proper maintenance of facilities (cleaning, catering, etc. ) have been taken care of.
  • Ensuring that logistical support for events and activities as required by management is taken care of
  • Overseeing Meals on Wheels accounting and operations
  • Overseeing CAMI's community center management
  • Other duties as required
Education/Experience:
  • Accounting certificate or bachelor?s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is considered an asset)
  • 2 years of relevant accounting/administrative experience
Assets:
  • Experience with non-profit organizations
  • Excellent language skills in both official languages
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes
  • Knowledge of Simply Accounting software
  • Knowledge of Google & Office Suites
  • Ability to define and manage priorities, autonomy and initiative
  • Meticulous attention to detail
