Internally Titled: Accounting Representative

Role Summary

As the Accounting Representative, you will provide administrative support to the Finance Team. You will be in a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day management of the full cycle accounting function. As the Accounting Representative, you will also provide accounts receivable support to the Finance Team as needed. You will be reporting to the Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Support with month-end and year-end processes
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Prepare various monthly and year-end account reconciliations
  • Prepare and file various sales tax filings (CDN and US)
  • Process period-end journal entries
  • Assist in preparing financial reports
  • Assist with variance analysis of key expense accounts
  • Assist with daily sales reconciliations and resolving of discrepancies
  • Compile the necessary documentation to support supplier invoices and payments such as purchase orders, manage approvals and waybills
  • Assist in verifying expense reports and corporate credit card charges
  • Assist in verifying and data entry of commissions
  • Assist in maintaining and developing the department\xe2\x80\x99s policies and procedures manual
  • Assist in the management of all leases, contracts and other financial commitments
  • Perform various other accounting duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • A certificate or diploma in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience
  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Working towards or desiring to work toward a CPA designation is an asset
  • Knowledge of Sage 300 and QuickBooks Online is an asset
  • Highly analytical with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, adjust to shifting priorities and manage time effectively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multiple-deadline environment
  • Flexibility to support beyond core business hours when necessary
