We are currently seeking an

experienced, detail-oriented, and highly organized Accountant

to join our in-person team. The successful candidate will have

extensive bookkeeping and accounting experience

, deep familiarity with

Ontario healthcare operations

, and strong working knowledge of

QuickBooks

and

AxisCare

software.

This role is central to ensuring the agency's financial stability, compliance, and daily operational success.

Position Summary



The

Accountant

will be responsible for the

complete financial management

of Modern Angels Healthcare, including

full-cycle accounting

,

payroll processing

,

billing and receivables

,

HST/WSIB/EHT filings

, and

daily financial reporting

.

This role requires a

hands-on professional

who can oversee all fiscal operations in accordance with

Ontario's financial, labour, and healthcare regulations

, while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities1. Full-Cycle Accounting & Financial Management



Maintain and reconcile the

general ledger, journals, and chart of accounts

on a daily basis Prepare

monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

(balance sheets, income statements, cash flow) Manage

accounts payable (A/P)

and

accounts receivable (A/R)

, including invoice processing, collections, and vendor payments Reconcile

bank, credit card, and petty cash

accounts monthly Prepare and file all

HST returns

, ensuring accuracy of input tax credits and reconciliations File and reconcile

WSIB

,

Employer Health Tax (EHT)

, and other provincial remittances Oversee and maintain internal

financial controls

and audit trails Assist in

year-end preparation

, including T2 filings, financial reviews, and coordination with external accountants Support

budget preparation, cost analysis, and financial forecasting

to guide business planning Maintain compliance with

PIPEDA, PHIPA

, and accounting record retention standards

2. Payroll Administration (Ontario ESA-Compliant)



Process

full-cycle payroll

through

QuickBooks

, integrated with

AxisCare

scheduling and timesheet data Ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with the

Employment Standards Act (ESA)

, including: Vacation pay and statutory holiday pay Overtime calculations Sick pay and other leaves of absence Prepare and remit

CRA payroll source deductions

accurately and on schedule File year-end forms including

T4, T4A, ROE

, and

T2200 (if applicable)

Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts, benefits deductions, and employer contributions Maintain secure and confidential employee payroll records, ensuring compliance with privacy laws Address payroll inquiries from staff with professionalism and confidentiality

3. Billing, Invoicing, and Daily Revenue Support



Oversee

daily billing operations

in

AxisCare

, ensuring all visits, service hours, and client data are captured and invoiced accurately Manage

private-pay, insurance, and government-funded billing

(Home and Community Care Support Services - HCCSS) Reconcile and process

remittance advice reports

, payment postings, and claim rejections Maintain updated

rate tables, service codes, and client agreements

in AxisCare Coordinate with operations and scheduling teams to ensure

accurate and verified time entries

before invoicing Investigate and resolve

billing discrepancies

, ensuring clean audit trails for all transactions Support management in tracking

accounts receivable aging, daily cash flow, and revenue projections


4. Compliance, Reporting, and Audit Support



Prepare comprehensive

monthly management reports

on financial performance, including cash flow statements and variance analyses Ensure compliance with

provincial and federal laws

, including PHIPA, OHSA, AODA, and Ministry of Labour requirements Maintain

insurance, vendor, and funder documentation

related to financial accountability Support external and internal

audits, inspections, and funder reviews

with accurate financial documentation Strengthen

internal controls

, establish written SOPs, and ensure adherence across the finance and operations departments

5. Systems, Process Improvement, and Communication



Maintain and optimize integration between

QuickBooks and AxisCare

, troubleshooting import/export errors and data discrepancies Develop

standard operating procedures (SOPs)

for accounting, payroll, and billing processes Identify and implement

efficiency improvements

to streamline workflows and reporting accuracy Collaborate closely with operations, scheduling, and HR teams to ensure fiscal and operational alignment Provide leadership and guidance to administrative staff on financial policies and procedures

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

(mandatory)

CPA designation (completed or in progress)

strongly preferred

Minimum of 4-5 years of full-cycle accounting experience

, preferably in a

healthcare, home care, or service-based organization

Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks

(Desktop or Online)

Experience using AxisCare

(billing, payroll, and scheduling integrations) In-depth understanding of

Ontario payroll legislation

HST

WSIB

, and

EHT

filing requirements Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills

High attention to detail
