Job Description

Our client, a rapidly growing and entrepreneurial manufacturing company in Dartmouth, is seeking a Senior Accountant to help shape their financial operations and support exciting growth across the business.
This newly created role comes as a result of the company's rapid expansion and continued success and will oversee core accounting functions, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and provide valuable insights to support strategic decision-making. The role also includes supervision of an Accounts Payable Clerk.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Oversee full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month- and year-end processes
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance reports in accordance with ASPE/GAAP
• Monitor and control manufacturing costs and maintain cost accounting systems
• Ensure compliance with tax requirements, prepare filings, and liaise with auditors and external partners
• Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency
• Provide financial insights, risk assessments, and recommendations to support business planning and growth
• Support ERP evaluation and implementation, process automation, and other strategic initiatives

Experience & Attributes for Success:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (CPA designation or in progress is strongly preferred)
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience in manufacturing or product-based industries is considered an asset
• Knowledge of cost accounting and reporting is an asset
• Proficiency with technology in general and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication abilities
• Adaptable, organized and attention to detail are key as the company is rapidly growing and developing new processes to support
