Job Description

Robert Half is partnered with our client in the investment industry in their search for their next Accountant. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of the organization. You will be responsible for a wide range of accounting tasks, including payables, receivables, payroll processing, HST and GST compliance, month-end reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy.

Your key responsibilities will include:
- Manage and execute all aspects of the accounting cycle, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation and submission of HST and GST returns, maintaining compliance with all relevant tax regulations.
- Perform month-end bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Provide timely and accurate financial reports to support decision-making.
- Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring adherence to company policies.
- Maintain positive relationships with vendors and customers, resolving any accounting-related issues or discrepancies.
- Assist in the coordination and support of external audits, ensuring compliance with audit requirements and providing necessary documentation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the finance department.
- Stay up-to-date with accounting regulations and standards, ensuring the organization\'s accounting practices remain compliant.

Your key qualifications:
- Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation or working towards CPA is an asset, but not required.
- Minimum of 3 years of full-cycle accounting experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of HST, GST, and other relevant tax regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
