Position Overview



The Accountant is responsible for performing day-to-day operational accounting activities and month-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions for select entities of The Progressive Group of Companies ("TPGC"). The Accountant is responsible for financial reporting and management analysis for select entities, preparing compliant financial statements and providing financial insight for decision-making.

The Accountant supports finance management with project delivery, implementation of standardized processes, key performance indicators (KPIs), and controls and procedure documentation.

Key Responsibilities



Performs full-cycle accounting and month-end close activities for select entities of TPGC, enabling timely and accurate financial reporting and management analysis.

Collaborates with other members of the finance team in preparing and posting journal entries, balancing inter-company accounts, and completing account reconciliations and other month-end close deliverables.

Collaborates with other departments to gather and record financial data, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

Prepares and processes invoices for accounts receivable.

Supports the Accounts Payable team with processing and payment of vendor invoices and expense reports for select entities, as required.

Prepares financial statements compliant with current accounting standards and supports the annual review engagements by providing necessary documentation.

Maintains effective internal control processes to safeguard company assets and ensure financial data integrity.

Ensures compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Identifies opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements to streamline finance operations.

Supports project delivery and automation initiatives, as required.

Contributes to a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements



University degree or diploma in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.

Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience.

Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.

Knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems; proficiency with NetSuite considered an asset.

Good analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manipulate financial data.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in accounting and financial reporting.

Proficient user of Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently.

Strong planning and organization skills, including managing and coordinating month-end tasks.

Strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
