We are currently looking to hire a skilled
Accountant
for a 12-month contract to join our team based in scenic Hantsport, Nova Scotia.
Reporting directly to the Interim Controller, Scotia Recycling, the
Accountant
will be responsible for the following:
Primary Accountabilities
Tracking payments and expenditures, including purchase orders, invoices, and statements.
Reconciling processed payments through verification of entries and other supporting documents to balances.
Maintaining the accuracy of historical data and records.
Providing support in audit and tax preparation.
Verifying and posting of expense reports.
Correspondence with customers and vendors regarding payment schedules, outstanding credits, and other finance-related inquiries.
Posting AR invoices and payments in Sage 300 and reconciliation to the bank.
Verifying and importing operational data into Sage 300.
Depot petty cash expenses and petty cash bank transactions posting in Sage 300 and reconciliation with bank.
Preparing an analysis of accounts and other monthly reports including inventory
Any other tasks as assigned .
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in a related field.
2-3 years of Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable experience. A combination of both would be ideal.
Self-starter who demonstrates initiative, strives to meet deadlines, accepts responsibility, and works with a minimum of supervision. Ability to work well in a team environment where multi-tasking is a necessity.
Understanding of general accounting policies and procedures.
Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; and accounting systems.
