Job Description

Brandt Corporate Services is seeking an individual to fill Accountant positions in the Calgary, AB location, in either the Truck & Trailer or Agriculture divisions, reporting to the Manager, Accounting.

The Accountant will partner with internal departments and branches across Canada to provide full-cycle accounting support and analysis. The role is hands-on support of the accounting function as well as Operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Create monthly branch and departmental financial statements
• Provide operational level analysis on monthly financials and trends and highlight the areas for improvement
• Reconcile GL accounts and prepare month end journal entries with supporting documentation
• Answer queries from internal stakeholders about monthly financial information
• Explain accounting reports and processes to internal stakeholders, partnering with operations to resolve any outstanding accounting issues
• Identify and analyze monthly budget variances and provide explanations to the Divisional Controller
• Assist operations in the preparation and analysis of the annual budget
• Works with different divisions for intercompany processing and reconciliation
• Implement and monitor accounting procedures and policies at both an operational and corporate level
• Possess a strong understanding of internal controls, their purpose and design
• Prepare year end working papers for auditors and provide explanations as needed
• Provide peer review of team members' work as needed
• Assist in continuous process improvement and ad-hoc projects
