Job Summary
As a unit within the Division of Student Affairs, the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) is responsible for providing institutional leadership in the delivery of a comprehensive student-focused accessible learning model and delivers training and education to further the University's commitment to provide equal access to all academic programs. CAL is a core academic support unit for both students and faculty and contributes to the recruitment and retention of students and fosters services and programs that value academic success, inclusion, accessibility, and universally designed environments.


Reporting to the Exam Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the daily operations, coordination, and on-going delivery of UVic's accommodated testing, systems, and procedures. The Accommodated Exam Coordinator works with students, instructors, and various other partners and collaborators to meet the institutional duty to accommodate.


Note that this position will occasionally require working flexible hours during final exam periods due to Saturday exams.


Job Requirements

Experience:



This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to 3 years of experience working within a comparable environment, experience in a post-secondary environment is preferred.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to problem solve by using judgement, independent thinking and/or analysis. Ability to interpret policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and tailor communication style for different audiences and situations. Experience composing various business communications such as emails, memos, and reports. Experience scheduling meetings and calendar coordination. Experience in maintaining confidential and sensitive information. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff, often in the context of emotional distress and/or crisis. Ability to respond to situations of emotional/health distress or crisis. Escalate situations to the Exam Manager or other campus supports (i.e. counselling services, campus security) as appropriate. Demonstrated service excellence to students and others. Proficiency with computer applications (i.e., MS-Office Suite, Adobe Create Suite, content management systems). Experience in a disability, counselling, mental health, or human service office working with a student population. Knowledge of accommodated exam scheduling (Clockwork) or other complex scheduling software as well as a variety of assistive technology such as Kurzweil and Dragon are an asset. Knowledge of UVic campus and student/faculty support services is an asset.

Specialized Knowledge/Education:




Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
