Job Description


Primary Purpose: Toronto School of Management (TSoM) is an innovative college offering a broad range of career-focused programs in Business, Hospitality and Tourism, Big Data, Cybersecurity, and Accounting. We provide relevant programs which ensure our students meet the demands of today’s ever-changing job market. Niagara College, Toronto Programs is a public college-private partnership between Niagara College Canada (NC) and TSoM, with academic delivery and student support services managed by TSoM. The Program Coordinator plays an essential academic leadership role to program sustainability and student success. The Program Coordinator will support the academic department with various strategic projects relating to academic operations by developing and implementing innovative program-specific objectives. The role holder plays an essential role in developing and maintain the Computer Programming programs and contributing to continuous student success. Responsibilities:

Faculty Leadership and Management

  • Provide leadership and bring excitement, enthusiasm, and commitment to the Computer Programing program.
  • Identify the need for technology resources, software installment, equipment installment, faculty resources, participate in the hiring process, and make effective recommendations regarding Instructor selection.
  • Onboard new departmental faculty and serve as a mentor in the implementation of effective teaching skills.
  • Offer in-person or online support with technical issues reported by faculty or staff
  • Participate in Instructor induction and maintain records of Instructor observation & appraisal.
  • Review and provide input to appraisals for Instructors as requested by the Academic Director.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, orientations, graduation exercises, and other functions as directed.
  • Oversee the assessment process for all Instructors including internal and external verification processes in association with QA team.
  • Participate in program specific marketing activities such as webinars and workshops when required
Program and Curriculum Development
  • Conduct R&D for new programs according to market trends and needs.
  • Identify required software, equipment outlined in the course outline. Research for possible software to support in teaching
  • Innovate, develop, and deliver an effective learning environment using available resources incorporating various teaching/learning methods to meet the course objectives.
  • Participate in professional development activities and programs as required by accreditation/regulatory agencies.
  • Manage lesson planning, assignments, class management and overall course assessment of the students’ work, while ensuring students’ awareness regarding course objectives and scoring rubric.
Student Success
  • Monitor student academic progress, grades, and attendance, ensure records are updated and accurate.
  • Liaise with student services for routine monitoring of attendance, student integration, student progression, disciplinary matters and provide strategies for problem-solving.
  • Oversee student enrollment records and student program registration to ensure it aligns with course timetable.
  • Oversee and execute orientation day timetables and presentations.
  • Liaise with different departments on academic and other student-related matters.
  • Engage students by tutoring and academic counselling while evaluating students’ progress and achievement.
  • Ensure all educational activity is conducted in a legal and ethical manner.
  • Challenge ideas and encourage students to develop skills and knowledge in critical and rational thinking.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • A Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of teaching experience in the vocation or equivalent work experience or a combination of both.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Previous curriculum and program development experience is considered an asset.
  • Previous teaching experience at a college or university is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching, supervising student work, and providing support and feedback is highly desirable.
  • Energy and drive, superior communication abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team of educators with diverse backgrounds.
  • Appropriate academic credentials for teachable subjects are essential.
  • Dynamic individual with knowledge of creating positive learning experience with young adult learners.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to a range of diverse students both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated a commitment to diversity and equity is desirable to interact effectively with diverse students and colleagues.
  • Proven experience in an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Capable of working independently as well as being part of a team.
