About the OpportunityThe Division of Hematopathology in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Nova Scotia Health Central Zone /Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre (QEII HSC) in Halifax, is seeking an academic hematopathologist. QEII HSC is a large, tertiary care teaching hospital affiliated with Dalhousie University and is the major adult referral centre for the Maritime Provinces.The successful applicant will join an active team of nine hematopathologists and four clinical scientists that serves a wide variety of patient programs including hematology, oncology, bleeding disorders, bone marrow and organ transplantation and blood transfusion. The Division has active Royal College residency training program in Hematopathology, as well as fellowship programs in Hematopathology and Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. It is a busy clinical service, providing state-of- the- art diagnostic methods and research opportunities in morphology, molecular pathology, bone marrow transplantation, coagulation disorders, transfusion medicine, flow cytometry and HLA typing. This position requires a commitment to clinical service, teaching and research.The successful applicant will be expected to participate in all aspects of clinical hematopathology service. Protected time for research may be arranged for a suitably qualified candidate.QualificationsApplicants should hold certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or acceptable equivalent) in Hematological Pathology.
