Hiring #: 2024-0252Please read the before applyingReporting to the Administrative Assistant in the Department of Marketing and Consumer Studies, the incumbent is responsible for providing departmental, operational, and academic support as well as performing a range of other duties for the administrative office. The Department of Marketing and Consumer Studies (MCS) is an academic unit in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics. Responsible for the Marketing Management and Real Estate and Housing (REH) undergraduate programs as well as an MSc in Marketing and a PhD in Management, MCS currently has 20 faculty members, approximately 1,200 undergraduate students and 30 graduate students.The Academic and Project Assistant provides administrative and academic support to the department, including the financial operations and is responsible for both internal and external department communication, including the monthly newsletter, website, digital and social media maintenance, as well as management of department awards, events, projects and marketing. This includes organizing and co-ordinating arrangements for the 5:30 Club, Marketing Society and REH student clubs and the department awards event. In addition, the Academic and Project assistant will answer inquiries from faculty, students, visitors, staff from other university departments and also provides backup to the other staff roles in MCS. Excellent customer service is key in all functions.Requirements of the position include: One (1) year Community College diploma in Administration or similar field of study coupled with some experience in an academic department, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Also required are proficiency with Microsoft Office software, Adobe, Courselink, Colleague, SFQ, FRS, Concur, ADI, ECS, Yodeck, Canava, Drupal, social media as well as knowledge of the University\'s programs and services. Proven ability to work accurately and promptly under pressure in a fast-paced environment is essential, as are excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, dependable, able to function equally well independently or as a member of a team, and able to effectively organize workflow in a logical sequence, while continually adapting to changing priorities.Position Number 180-060
