Position Overview

: The

Veterinary Dentistry Service at the Burlington Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital

is seeking a friendly, energetic, and compassionate animal lover to join our team as a

full time Animal Care Attendant

.

This unique opportunity in a specialty service will encompass hands-on patient care as well as some administrative and client service support. We are looking for someone with a deep interest in Veterinary Medicine, with previous experience in a like-role, who is interested in learning from the best!

Our Animal Care Attendants are responsible for ensuring the quality of care and service provided to the pets and the people we care for is impeccable. Through learning and communicating openly with the medical team, the Animal Care Attendant will be set up to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:



Provides exceptional client service and builds relationships with clients through service, respect, and professionalism. Greets, handles, and treats pets with kindness, compassion, patience and skill. Nurtures an environment that makes them feel safe and secure - fear free encouraged! Efficiently, accurately, and safely performs animal handling and husbandry duties. Ensures hospitalized patients are comfortable, clean, exercised, and fed according to instructions. Provides direct assistance to Technicians and Doctors, and general assistance throughout the hospital with appointments, treatments, procedures, and surgeries. Helps with administrative and front office duties when required. Efficiently and accurately performs clerical and reception duties, client and in-patient intake and discharge duties, schedules appointments, answers questions, and maintains front office and exam room flow as required. Ensures smooth communication throughout a client's visit. Acts as the liaison between our CSRs, our clients and the medical team and relays all necessary information timely and correctly. Identifies and addresses any issues. Frequently monitors all in-hospital patients and correctly records information relating to feeding schedules, appearance, or behavior. Immediately reports any changes to the correct person. Focuses on the well-being and comfort of the patient while following best medicine and patient experience principles. Is able to diffuse client conflict in a professional, hospitable and tactful manner. Escalates/refers when appropriate to Team Leader or Manager. Routinely contributes to the cleanliness and organization of the practice, to ensure all guests leave with a lasting positive impression of the hospital. Understands and follows best medicine, hospital initiatives, SOPs, and programs. Contributes, supports, and implements new ideas and positive changes for themselves, the team, and the hospital. Supports and participates in all voluntary and mandatory accreditations/regulations and training. This includes Great Places to Work, Employment Standards, OVMA, CVO, WHMIS, OHS, etc.
