The Abundance Program Assistant a casual position responsible to the Abundance Program Manager under the Executive Director.
The Abundance Thrift Store is a social enterprise run through the Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland NS. The Abundance Program Assistant is a casual staff person who will be responsible for supervising the daily activities and sales at the Abundance Thrift Store (165 Main street Dartmouth) on Saturdays from 10:00am until 4:00pm. The Abundance Program Assistant will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the Thrift Store including the supervision of sales associates (program participants), opening and closing the store, managing cash and card sales, sorting/washing/and tagging donations. This person is expected to function within the philosophy and principles, rules of work, policies, and procedures of the Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland Nova Scotia. Further, this individual is expected to support women, girls, and gender diverse individuals who are criminalized, or at risk, in participating in the employment project by providing client centered support flexible to the needs of the individual.
Hours and wage:
The position is 6 hours weekly, in store, on Saturdays. The hourly rate of pay is $25.00. The successful applicant must be available to work every Saturday; some exceptions may be considered.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide in store professional support and encouragement to program participants who are employed as sales associates.
Contribute to the day-to-day functions of the Abundance Store including cleaning, receiving and organizing donations, laundry, handling cash, etc.
Support sales associates in creating daily checklists and delegate work.
Communicate with program coordinators and the program manager regarding the professional development of program participants.

Job Specific Requirements:
Social services or social sciences related undergraduate studies an asset, this role would be ideal for a student!
Experience volunteering or working for non-profit organizations is an asset.
An ability to maintain confidentiality.
Available to work Saturdays.
