Absence Management Specialist

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:




Responsible for administering the medical absence management processes and programs, including occupational and non occupational medical absence, return to work plans, accommodation and long-term disability. The role primarily focuses on case management within this scope to ensure that instances of absence are managed in a manner that best supports operational requirements.

Qualifications:




The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

Knowledge of disability management, and return-to-work and accommodation practices Knowledge of relevant legislation, collective agreements, and benefits administration policies, procedures, and processes Understanding of the broader university, academic units, departments, and divisions Proficiency with office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices

Education and Experience:




The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

Bachelor's degree or relevant specialized education i.e. Certified Return to Work Specialist, Certified Return to Work Coordinator or Certified Disability Management Professional or equivalent Minimum of four years of disability management experience
