The Department of Public Works is responsible for construction and maintenance required to support Nova Scotia\'s 23,000 kilometers of roads and highways, 4,100 bridges, 2,400 facilities and 9 provincial ferries.
This is an opportunity to use your leadership and management skills in a new role within the Department that will support the Province\'s duty to consult obligations with the Mi\'kmaq of Nova Scotia on infrastructure projects.
About Our Opportunity
As the Consultation Coordinator reporting to the Executive Director of Highway Engineering and Construction, you play a central coordination and file management role for Department consultations with the Mi\'kmaq of Nova Scotia. You work closely with Department of Public Works staff, the Office of L\'nu Affairs and other provincial and federal departments, and the Mi\'kmaq to support the Department in implementing the corporate approach to consultation as outlined in the Government of Nova Scotia Policy and Guidelines: Consultation with the Mi\'kmaq of Nova Scotia.
You will also conduct research and analysis and develop policy advice on Aboriginal economic, social, cultural, and environmental interests in infrastructure related developments, lead all Divisions in consultation and engagement efforts with the Mi\'kmaq of Nova Scotia, and act with others in the Department to advance the relationship with the Aboriginal community.
