What will you do...


The Community Liaison Specialist works within a team of individuals that support the settlement and integration of New Canadians.

Duties/Responsibilities

Focus on the integration of newcomers in Canadian workplace culture and/or society, through professional/social networking and developing connections by matching them with Canadian volunteers and referring them to the programs and services that meet their needs. Work closely with community partners and members, employers and volunteers. Attend outreach events at Community partner locations for program promotion and networking opportunities. Perform the necessary administrative tasks (accurate records keeping, data entry and preparing both statistical and narrative reports) Responsible for successful delivery of the program - ensuring goals, outcomes and client satisfaction Oversee the day-to-day operations of the program delivery Conduct a needs assessment to assess the client's needs. Maintain accurate records of various program related resources, volunteers, participants, Manage client's files while maintaining confidentiality. Monitor, evaluate & measure the program outcomes and prepare accurate reports and collect the required statistics on program progress meeting the timelines. Organize information sessions as per the needs of the clients by inviting guest speakers from community and government agencies. Provide information, orientation to the clients and make appropriate referrals to the other YMCA programs, community and government services. Other duties as assigned

What will you bring...

Qualifications (Required Education/Skills/Experience)

1-2 years of Community Service experience including experience in Volunteer Management Related post-secondary education and training in Community Services is an asset Acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check

Self-starter and effective communicator with a focus on building strong relationships and partnerships Demonstrated the ability to use sound judgment in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters. Creativity, innovation, teamwork and problem solving Continuous learner that aims to stay up to date on Immigration Policy, trends and best practices in the Settlement Sector.

Work Environment

Typical office environment The position requires sitting in one work area much of the time. The position requires normal levels of seeing and hearing and may require increased use of senses on a periodic basis (e.g., concentration) but not continuously or for long periods of time. The position requires the normal dexterity required to do either manual or computerized record keeping. The environment is generally comfortable with exposure to normal levels of elements such as dust with minor fluctuations in heating/ventilating. Some exposure to disagreeable conditions Minimal risk of injury to worker.

This role requires regular travel across the region, which may not always be easily accessible through public transit. The employee must be able to arrange their transportation to these sites. A valid G driver's license and full-time vehicle access are strongly recommended.
