Are you ready to take your camp experience to the next level?


Join us in one of our Senior Camp Playground positions for the 2026 Summer season where you will take on a key leadership role in our summer play camps. You will supervise, train and mentor fellow counsellors while ensuring a safe and engaging environment for campers. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of camp programming and campers through planning & implementing camp activities, engaging and interacting with participants and parents/guardians all while providing direction in a fun and enjoyable environment.

Summer camps run June 2026 to August 2026. Mandatory staff training will take place evenings and weekends prior to Summer Camp.

What You Will Do




Ensure the safety, enjoyment, and care of registered participants in City of Oshawa camp programs Using City vehicle, drive with other Play staff to park locations to deliver programming Plan and implement staff trainings Evaluate Camp Counsellors job performance throughout the summer Oversee the daily operation of camp programming Maintain ongoing communication with camper parents/guardians Become familiar with City of Oshawa policies, procedures and emergency procedures and be able to implement such procedures (fire, power failure, building evacuation) Respond to first aid situations Report all incidents, accidents, issues and concerns to the Program Coordinator Complete all formal paperwork (accident, incident, complaint forms, weekly attendance) Answer questions and inquiries, while providing effective customer service to registrants/patrons of the program Review program attendance numbers and make recommendations regarding program locations (ie. Continue operating, discontinue a park location, etc.) Ensure all equipment is prepared/put away daily Support and demonstrate the City of Oshawa core values of Authenticity, Courage, and Trust Perform other duties as assigned

What We Are Looking For




Must be able to commit to the full term of employment beginning June 2026 through September 4, 2026 Be currently enrolled in school full-time or returning to school full-time in Fall 2026 Experience working with children Previous volunteer or employment in a camp or similar setting is considered an asset Previous experience in a supervisory role is considered an asset Must possess and keep current Standard First Aid & CPR 'C' certificate (or be willing to obtain prior to starting employment) Demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills to deal effectively and courteously with staff and the general public; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships Demonstrate strong organizational skills to effectively oversee daily camp programming operations; strong problem-solving skills to address unexpected challenges Attend all mandatory staff meetings and trainings, including evenings and weekends Ability to swim is required Ability to ice skate is considered an asset Possession and maintenance of a valid Ontario Driver's Licence, minimum Class "G", in good standing with no demerit points and a clean drivers abstract. Able to pass the Corporation's tests for motor vehicle operation.

As a condition of employment, the City of Oshawa will require successful candidates to provide a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
