Job Description

The Landscape Services department has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Labourer I - Horticulture. Reporting to the Landscape Services Supervisor, this position offers 76.5 hours bi-weekly starting approximately April 15, 2025, to approximately October 15, 2025.




The primary role of this position is to maintain plants and landscaping in municipal parks and gardens. Qualified candidates will have a grade 12 education supplemented by at least 6 months of experience in a similar role with an interest in the horticulture field. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of plant maintenance and the ability to gain in-depth knowledge of plant materials, pruning requirements and best practices. Candidates must also have previous experience with the safe use and maintenance of a variety of horticulture equipment and tools and be physically able to perform moderate to heavy work in all outdoor weather conditions. Post-Secondary courses in horticulture and previous experience with traffic control is considered an asset.




The successful candidate is customer service focused and demonstrates excellent active listening and verbal communication skills and the strong ability to act as an RMOW ambassador. The successful candidate also demonstrates commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace within their team and will create and maintain effective working relationships with others while contributing to a positive team environment. The starting wage for this position is $32.91 an hour.



As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must hold a valid class 5 BC driver's license and must provide a satisfactory driver's abstract prior to beginning employment.
