The Roads department has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Labourer ll - Roads. Reporting to the Supervisor of Roads, Drainage and Flood Protection, this position offers variable hours, up to 76.5 hours bi-weekly, starting approximately April 14, 2025, to October 31, 2025.
The Labourer ll's role is to maintain roads, drainage, dykes and signs for the Resort Municipality of Whistler and will also assist in the maintenance of roads, ditches, dykes and line painting.
Qualified candidates have a grade 12 diploma, Level 1 First Aid and at least 2-3 years of experience in a similar position including the ability to use a variety of hand tools such as a jackhammer, saws, paint sprayers, weed eaters, and brush cutters. Qualified candidates demonstrate a good safety awareness and the abilities to problem solve, work independently, manage competing demands, and prioritize work tasks effectively. Candidates must be physically able to perform moderate to heavy work in all weather conditions and previous experience with flagging is considered an asset.
The successful candidate is a team player who demonstrates excellent active listening and verbal communication skills and a commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace within their team and, will create and maintain effective working relationships with others while contributing to a positive team environment. The starting wage for this job is $33.49 per hour.
As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must hold a valid BC class 5 driver's license and submit a satisfactory driver's abstract prior to beginning employment.
