Job Summary

The Youth Worker plays a vital role in supporting and guiding young individuals in their personal and social development. This position involves working closely with children and adolescents to provide educational support, mentorship, and a safe environment for growth. The Youth Worker will engage with youth in various activities that promote learning, self-esteem, and positive social interactions.

Duties

Develop and implement engaging educational programs tailored to the needs of children and adolescents. Provide one-on-one support to youth, fostering their personal development and helping them overcome challenges. Create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, ensuring that the needs of individuals with disabilities are met. Facilitate group activities that encourage teamwork, communication, and social skills among participants. Monitor and document the progress of youth, providing feedback to parents or guardians as necessary. Collaborate with other staff members and community resources to enhance the support network for youth. Attend training sessions and workshops to stay updated on best practices in youth work and education.

Qualifications

Experience working with children or adolescents in a professional or volunteer capacity is preferred. Knowledge or experience in Indigenous Culture. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with youth from diverse backgrounds. A passion for educating and mentoring young people, fostering their growth and development. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being able to take initiative when needed. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards helping youth achieve their goals.
