Job Description

Reports to: Gateway House Manager

Responsibilities: To work closely with the youth clients of the YWCA Gateway House youth shelter to provide guidance and support to improve their quality of life. Develop and provide programming in life skills and cultural practices. Maintain a clean and secure facility and to provide assistance to the public and residents when necessary. Be available for an on-call rotation.

Qualifications:

• Post-Secondary education and/or previous experience working with youth;
• Early childhood development education/experience;
• Passionate & knowledgeable about Indigenous cultural traditions and teachings;
• Knowledgeable of intergenerational trauma & historical factors such as: residential schools, and other aspects of colonization that re responsible for for communities previous & current health & wellness;
• Knowledge of referral agencies;
• Openminded & willing to learn;
• Must pass a YWCA Security Clearance with a successful Vulnerable Sector & Criminal Record Check;
• Caring and compassionate attitude;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
• Knowledge of community resources & other agencies;
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills;

Remuneration: $56, 244 salary

Duties:

• Assistance in developing case plans for youth clients;Transport clients to and from appointments, recreational, & cultural activities;
• Develop programming specifically geared towards Youth living a transient lifestyle or in crisis, life skills and cultural practices;
• Deliver appropriate programming to the Youth clients;
• Liaise with the community and develop partnerships with Community Program Delivery Officers (ex.: Addictions, Harm Reduction, Sexual Education);
• Provide support to the Youth residing in Gateway House;
• Provide feedback to the Gateway House Supervisor(s) & Manager on major issues and incident reports;
• Administrative duties;
• Medication administration;
• Attend to crises as they arise during non-office hours as per the On-Call rotation. Contact the Gateway House manager in the event of a major crisis;
• Prioritize work, attending to the most urgent needs of the clientele first;
• Must be able to work unsupervised;
• Assistance with purchasing of supplies;
• Statistical tracking and reporting;
• Maintain confidentiality;
• Any other duties as requested;

Probationary Period: All YWCA Prince Albert positions contain a three-month probation period.
