The Opportunity:
We are recruiting for a
YOUTH JUSTICE COURT SUPPORT COORDINATOR
This is a contract part-time role until October 15, 2026 (17.5 hours per week between the hours of Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm) based at 737 Woolwich St.. Guelph.*
This position ensures that youth age 12 to 17 with a mental health issue and who are involved with the criminal justice system, and their families, obtain a diversion plan where needed. This position also ensures that they are able to access the short and long term services/resources they require in the mental health system and have access to support during their involvement with the criminal justice system as well as to the necessary services/resources when released back to the community. This position will also provide consultation to the criminal justice, mental health and developmental sectors regarding client and system specific issues to ensure that an individual's needs are addressed and to ensure that services are working collaboratively on behalf of the individual. This position reports to the Manager, Children's Services.
The incumbent requires:
Degree/diploma in psychology, social work, criminology or relevant health or social science field
Experience in applying a person-centered and recovery oriented service philosophy to the provision of community support services for youth
In-depth understanding and working knowledge of the Mental Health Act including involuntary admission process, the assessment provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, Canada, related health care legislation, forensic issues and the criminal justice process
Well developed assessment, crisis intervention and advocacy skills acquired through relevant experience and formal training
Ability to work collaboratively with formal and informal community services/resources within the criminal justice, mental health and developmental sectors
Ability to work collaboratively with the families and support networks of those involved with the criminal justice system
Sound organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to social and cultural diversity
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook and various data base software
A valid driver's license, vehicle and insurance, as travel is required

CLASSIFICATION AND RATE OF PAY: Level 5 (OPSEU) - $33.07 to $40.30 per hour
