Youth and Family Services Officer
The MRMA is an immigrant services organization that serves all of Northumberland County with various program and settlement services designed to assist newcomers to Canada. MRMA is currently looking to fill the position of Youth and Family Services Officer.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Youth and Family Services Officer is responsible to assist young newcomers, as well as their families, with adapting to life in Canada. The Youth and Family Services Officer is also responsible to provide support for newcomer youth and their families through activities, programs and community resources, and assist with the integration of young newcomers in the community.
Role and Responsibilities
• Be a primary contact for immigrant youth and families that require help with newcomer youth focused problems or questions
• Maintain regular contact with local educational institutions and administrators
• Work together with the staff of educational institutions responsible for immigration/settlement issues
• Refer newcomer youth and families to existing services in the region
• Develop individualized plans in support of young newcomers and families
• Organize activities and events involving newcomer youth and the local population
• Develop a guide/directory of services and support programs for newcomer youth
• Develop relationships and partnerships with educational institutions in the region
• Maintain positive relationships with educational institutions, youth focused groups and other community associations in order to encourage activities for newcomer youth
Education and Experience
• Post-secondary education or experience in a similar field
• Experience with multicultural associations (an asset)
• Experience working with youth (an asset)
• Fluency in multiple languages (an asset)
• Experience with the Microsoft Suite (word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

• Excellent interpersonal communications and media relations skills
• Organization and management of priorities

Schedule:
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed

• Miramichi, NB E1N 1B6: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Licence/Certification:
• Driving Licence (required)
