About the Role





The Clinical Counsellor will serve as a key member of the interdisciplinary clinical team for the Youth Recovery House. He, she or they will play a leadership role in establishing and maintaining the residence as a strength-based, trauma-informed and therapeutic environment for all young people in care. The incumbent will serve as case manager for a number of the participants, and will provide evidence-based group addictions therapy and one-on-one clinical counseling for youth and their families.



As the Clinical Lead within the Youth Recovery House, the incumbent will support the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures consistent with best practice. The Clinical Counsellor will contribute to the management of the home, and ensure it remains welcoming and safe and contributes intentionally to the well-being of all who reside there.



The Clinical Counsellor will balance clinical methodologies with recreational and relationship-based practice set within a trauma-informed and holistic (bio-psycho-social-spiritual-cultural) framework of care.


Position





Full Time, 35 hours per week.


Salary





Grid Level 16P -Wage range 40.05 -46.72 per hour


Facility-Based Role Premium - additional $1.00 per hour for facility-based roles

Indirect Compensation




3 weeks vacation pay which increases with length of service Municipal Pension Plan Enrollment/Portability with 9.31% Pension matching after the 3-month probationary period or upon hire, depending on current Pension enrollment status Extended Health and Dental benefits after the 3 month probationary period 1 paid wellness day per year Paid birthday off Paid sick time which increases with length of service.

Qualifications





Education & Experience


Master's degree in a relevant field of study as well as registration with a professional association 3-5 years' experience as a Clinical Counsellor, including group therapy/facilitation and family counselling Training and experience providing evidence-based responses/ therapeutic interventions to individuals experiencing alcohol use disorder, substance use disorder and concurrent disorder. Knowledge and experience of comprehensive assessment and treatment planning, including familiarity with DSM-IV-TR 3 years' experience working with youth, preferably in a live-in environment, and their families. Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment

Skills


Excellent communication skills, orally and in writing Ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships with external and internal stakeholders Demonstrated crisis management, decision-making, conflict resolution, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Requirements


Valid B.C. driver's license and use of a reliable vehicle Employees must declare their vaccination status for COVID-19 and influenza; if vaccinated, documentation must be provided. Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check
