Description

The Youth & Family Ministries Coordinator is responsible, in collaboration with the broader Pastoral Team, to create vibrant and integrated youth/children/family ministries at Renew Church and develop volunteer leadership teams to support those ministries.

HOURS:

  • Permanent Full Time Position of 32 hours/week.
  • Potential to explore additional hours in the coming year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, lead and facilitate programming for children, youth, young adults and families (mid-week and Sunday programming). Create, build and grow an interdisciplinary team to help facilitate and lead these ministries.
  • Support families through programs/services offered to children/youth/young adults. Develop and maintain relationships with family members of children/youth served.
  • Effectively communicate to the community programming and services that would benefit children, youth, young adults, and families.
  • Effectively network with community agencies, churches and other potential partners for the benefit of the youth and their families.
  • Effectively coach and mentor youth as they navigate life. Recruit, train and grow mentors supporting a formal mentorship program.
  • Lead and train a committee to oversee pastoral care of youth and children connected to Renew Church Ministries.
  • Collaborate with volunteer coordinator to recruit, train and support youth and young adults for volunteer opportunities at Renew.
  • Actively demonstrate and reflect a life surrendered to Jesus.
  • Present the truth of God\'s word in unique, fun, relevant and memorable ways.
  • Use every available opportunity to pray with children, youth, young adults and their families and to lead children and youth to respond to the Gospel.
  • May visit the homes of the children, youth, & young adults, and/or have community visits with youth in small groups.
  • May act as a spiritual care advisor to a youth whose family member is in the Pathway of Hope program.
  • Transport children, youth, young adults in ministry vehicle.
  • Coordinate transportation and supervision of the children going to camp.
  • Collaborate with other team members and agencies to register kids for summer camp.
  • Collaborate with other team members to support families registering for the Christmas Gifts of Hope Program, as well as the execution of the program.
  • Actively participate in the leadership team of Renew Church
  • Actively participate in the weekly Worship Gatherings of Renew Church.
  • Maintain databases, record statistics, & write reports pertaining to children, youth and young adult ministries.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development.
  • Support team members and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Assist with answering the phone and responding to guests coming into the Community Life Centre when needed.
  • Complete monthly reconciliation of spending and expense records.
  • Monitor expenditures to ensure conformity to budget provisions.
  • Develops and oversees fundraising opportunities for children, youth, young adults and their families.
  • Locate, apply for and manage grants that would benefit programming for children, youth, young adults.
  • Actively participates in all fundraising activities.
  • Know and act in accordance with security procedures of The Salvation Army to ensure the safety and confidentiality of participants and information.
  • Must carry a cell phone.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned (set up, clean up, communication, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:
  • Biblical studies is an asset
  • A degree working with youth is an asset
  • Valid B.C. Drivers\' Licence (must be able to transport others)
Experience:
  • Passionate for building gospel-centered relationships with youth and children
  • Has a strong, mature, personal Christian commitment that is able to lead and teach from the Bible
Required Skills/Knowledge:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others
  • Ability to deal with and relate to children/young people and develop programs/services that minister to their spiritual, emotional, social and developmental needs
  • A desire to be creative and innovative, showing initiative with minimal supervision, and solve problems
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • A whole-hearted commitment to support the mission, vision and values of Renew Church and The Salvation Army
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
  • Website management experience is an asset
