The Ministries Coordinator will organize and facilitate music and media opportunities and assist in providing spiritual formation and development opportunities for youth and families within the Prince George Community Church and the surrounding community with the purpose of promoting integrated mission. The Ministries Coordinator will work to provide/facilitate programming and resources for children, youth, and families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organizational Responsibilities
  • Actively participates in Mission Board meetings and weekly leadership meetings.
  • Attends and participates in Sunday Worship at The Salvation Army Prince George.
  • Diligent stewardship of resources.
  • Perform job specific tasks (as listed below) that support corps program objectives in collaboration with the Corps Officer.
Music Program Coordination:
  • Coordinate, maintain, and assist in the evaluation of Salvation Army music programs relevant to the young people of the church and community at large including discipleship, outreach, and special events.
  • Coordinate and lead youth music initiatives, events, and programs.
  • Maintain accurate and organized written records and logs of activities and statistical information.
  • Assist the church mission in developing, identifying, recommending, and updating programs for achieving music program objectives for youth and young adults.
  • Attend and participate at our annual Music Camp.
Youth and Family Coordination:
  • Work in partnership with the CO and the corps staff, to promote all programs for children and youth within the Church and the community.
  • Contribute to the spiritual development of children and youth by mentoring, discipling, encouraging and modeling appropriate Christian attitudes and behaviours.
  • Develop new ministries to encourage the spiritual development of children and youth.
  • Coordinates and maintains programs relevant to youth and children within the Corps as well as in the community at large.
  • Assist in the evaluation of youth and children program within the Corps and community outreach.
  • Plans and conducts creative worship services, outreach, discipleship programs and implements ORANGE curriculum.
  • Strategize for youth, families, media, & music ministries and future planning for the same.
  • Plan events to promote integrated mission, connecting Youth from community with Corps.
  • Maintain all statistics pertaining to youth, media, & music programming and records information in a timely fashion.
  • Represents The Salvation Army on related community family/youth committees when necessary.
  • Interacts with Community Partners to determine local youth and family resources.
  • May be required to attend and/or transport children to/from camps and outside activities as needed.
  • Follow up with children/youth who attend The Salvation Army camp programs.
  • Fundraise with youth to attend youth events.
Media Responsibilities:
  • Compile, and write communications and promotional literature for distribution such as newsletters, brochures, or flyers for Corps Youth.
  • Plan and produce media production for Sunday worship services and special events.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to assist with media production.
  • Give oversight to the church portion of our sapg website and ensure social media platforms are up to date with relevant information.
  • Manage and/or work with web designer for updating web presence.
Administration Duties:
  • Provide accurate, timely and highly organized administrative support including preparing memos, thank you letters, decision reports, registration materials, taking minutes, maintaining files, preparing presentations and reports and any other documentation for the team.
  • Responsible for the organization and maintenance of the filing system (electronically or manually) with the Support Worker.
  • Enter youth events and camps into Camp Brain and liaison with parents to ensure open communication with church and home.
  • Perform general office duties such as answering phone, picking up messages, answering and screening telephone and email enquiries and/or resolve enquiries.
  • Collect and prepare statistical information pertaining to registration, decision reports in an organized and timely manner.
  • Photocopy and distribute materials as requested. Send and receive emails as requested.
  • Draft and prepare promotional materials for camps, brochures, flyers, social media, and newsletters subject to supervisory approval. Assist with projects and reports.
  • Responsible for keeping the office reception area neat and organized.
  • Maintaining the policy manual.
  • Perform other position related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:
  • College Certificate or Diploma of two academic years with an emphasis in Biblical Studies, Music and/or Youth Ministries.
  • An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience.
  • Current Safe Food Handlers Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Supervisory/management skills and the ability to lead, coach and motivate.
  • Knowledge of community-based resources and experience networking.
  • Understanding for individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds
Required Skills/Knowledge:
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, good judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Capable of establishing and maintaining positive interpersonal relationships and ability to work as an effective team member with limited supervision.
  • Proficiency with social media (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter).
  • Ability to present program materials in a clear concise and comfortable manner.
  • Ability to teach and lead various activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and relate to young people and parents.
  • Safe Food Handling and First Aid/CPR Certifications.
  • Strong team player and leadership skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Effective time management and strong organizational skills.
  • Conflict management and resolution skills.
  • Ability to lift/move more than 40 lbs.

  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver\'s License, own vehicle and insurance is required; an original copy of a current Driver\'s Abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion is required.
  • Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through our local police detachment.
  • Screening through The Salvation Army\'s Internal Abuse Registry
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Working environment is typically in the Corps building in generally agreeable conditions. Some requirements to work outside or in a variety of locations.
  • This job requires reaching, bending, and stooping frequently, working in a standing position for periods of time.
  • Dealing with difficult people and verbal abuse.
  • Travel within/out city may be required. May require some weekend overnights.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends to meet program needs.
  • Flexibility in work schedule is required based on programming schedules.
  • One week at Camp is required.
  • May require lifting items of up to 40lbs.

  • Completion of our online Praesidium Academy online abuse training and required Health and Safety training
