We are looking for two (2) Part Time Youth & Family Counsellors to join our team. This position is temporary for 8 months with possibility of extension.
Role Summary
Primary locations will include the Forest Lawn Library and the Central Calgary Library, with occasional shifts at the Inglewood Opportunity Hub as needed. At the Forest Lawn Library, the role will entail managing and supporting large groups of youth (Jr High and Sr High) who gather at Forest Lawn library during school months during the day between 12pm-1pm. Support and build staff capacity for behavior management and youth engagement. At Central library, you will be improving safety and engagement within Central library through direct interaction and support from trained professionals. Implement supports as an extension of the Wellness desk. Shifts will run Monday to Thursday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. At the Central Library, hours will be Monday to Thursday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Friday to Sunday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Please note that schedules are subject to change based on program needs.
Responsibilities
Implementing and maintaining a structured setting fostering the development of personal and social functioning for each client.
Participates actively in supervisory meetings, team meetings, and retreats, planning sessions, and designated in-service training.
Is responsible for a variety of therapeutic responsibilities for particular children, youth, and their families. In combination with relevant case management, these responsibilities include attendance at case conferences, involvement in intervention strategies, consultations, school meetings, doctor's appointments, family meetings, etc.
Maintains the upkeep of the living space of the program and ensures the provision of a program that fits the requirements of the Licensing Department.
Is responsible for a variety of tasks associated with program functioning including meal preparation, cleaning, and transportation of children, youth, and families.
Executes other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Diploma/Undergraduate Degree in the Social Sciences, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Nursing, and minimum two to four years related experience.
Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
Experience in working with young people preferred.
Current proof of professional registration may be required for certain diplomas or degrees.
Must have a class 5 driver's license and own transportation.
