Westman Immigrant Services (WIS) is a non-profit registered charity organization serving newcomers in the Western Manitoba region. With a vision of creating a generational impact for clients, our staff and our community. We liaise with community groups and organizations to work towards building capacity in our community for improving services to immigrants and refugees.
Overview:
We are currently hiring for a Youth Facilitator. Working from the WIS offices in Brandon, the Youth Facilitator will be responsible for building and implementing youth programs for school-aged children and youth.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and implement an annual program plan following needs assessments, research, or evaluation results to facilitate settlement
Provide support counseling to clients
Design and timely implementation of strategies to evaluate impact of programing
Work closely with larger team and across departments to determine settlement plans, needs of clients, volunteer requirements etc.
Explore funding opportunities for different activities for programming and prepare grant applications to request funding for programs, at the direction of management
Liaise between newcomers and other community organizations
Promote programs within the community
Maintain up to date knowledge of programs and services available at WIS and in the community to support clients to allow appropriate referrals
Develop partnerships with service providers to effectively link clients with appropriate community services
Stay informed on current resources, trends, changes, and services gaps in the general community and specific communities
Participate in regular staff meetings and initiatives to ensure excellence in client service
Maintain accurate records of services and provide reporting to management as required
Empower clients to become self-sufficient and respect professional boundaries
Engage in professional development activities to remain current in the field
Provide management with operational support as required
Skill, Ability and Licensing Requirements:
Knowledge of challenges faced by newcomer school-aged children and youth
Ability to manage client caseloads and maintain confidentiality
Self-starter able to work independently and as part of a team
Creative thinking and excellent interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management
Strong proficiency and ability to communicate in English
Possess a valid Manitoba Driver's Licence and access to reliable transportation
First Aid Certification
Provide a clear Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
Ability to work collaboratively with management, employees, and community stakeholders in a diverse environment
