Please submit a cover letter and resume as an expression of interest in this position Home Base is seeking an experienced, dynamic and motivated individual to fill a temporary full-time position as the Youth Centre Coordinator (YCC) for a minimum period of 12 months Parental Leave. The YCC is responsible for development and implementation of events, programs, support services and training at the Home Base Yellowknife Youth Centre (YC) located downtown Yellowknife. The YCC will work closely with a small team of dedicated staff and youth ages 12-24 to support identified short and long term needs of youth who access the YC. Why work for Home Base Yellowknife?

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Routine daily documentation
  • Completion of routine employee scheduling
  • Orientation of all new HBYK employees to the Youth Centre
  • Training of all new YC employees
  • Compliance with budgetary requirements and submission of reports as per funding requirements
Frontline Responsibilities
  • Development and implement a regular programming schedule to meet identified needs of youth
  • Engage youth to participate in cultural, educational, mental health & addictions, personal coaching, recreational and social programming provided by specialized HBYK staff
  • Collaborate with other HB Program Staff to carry out various events and activities
  • Connect youth to resources in the community not limited to education, employment, housing, life skills, addictions, and mental health
  • Daily engagement and interaction with youth
  • Ensure the YC is a safe space for all, including 2SLGBTQQIPAA+ persons
  • Risk, Conflict and Crisis Management

  • Degree or Diploma, including but not limited to: Youth Work, Social Work, Criminology, Education, Recreation
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in a similar role/environment.
  • Relevant lived experience will be assessed on a case by case basis
TRANSFERABLE SKILLS
  • PuPunctual and reliable (_required_)
  • Fluent in the use of Google Suite programming
  • Docs (forms, reports)
  • Sheets (budget, scheduling)
  • Slides (presentations, proposals, training)
  • Understanding of youth experiencing addictions, discrimination, homelessness, mental health problems, trauma, and neurodivergent behaviours
  • Emotional intelligence including self-awareness, self-regulation, intrinsic motivation empathy, social skills
  • Communication skills including written, verbal, presentation, active listening, non-verbal, feedback, respect, confidence, clarity, honesty, friendly
  • Work independently while collaborating well with others
Prerequisites
  • Yellowknife resident , this is an on-site position (required)
  • Fluency in English (comprehension, verbal & written) (_required_)
  • 19 years of age (required)
  • Current Work VISA Status
  • Full Class 5 license + minimum of 1 year experience as a fully licensed driver
  • Clear Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Abstract
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
  • Child and Family Services Check (as necessary)
