Pay Range:

$17.50 - $20 per hour


Hours:

35+ hours/week (10pm to 8am), 3-month probation and review

Ministry of Social Services

Description:





As an Overnight Youth Support at SCP Shelter, you will provide supervision and support to a maximum of 5 youth between the ages of 16-21 from the hours of 11pm to 9am. You will be responsible for youth engagement, medication administration, crisis response/management, communication, documentation, and general home upkeep. Overnight Support Staff are expected to comply with industry standards and best practices while adhering to all SCP mandated approaches, policies, processes, and protocols in the fulfilment of their role and completion of their duties.

Qualifications (Education & Experience)




Secondary completion required (High school diploma or equivalent) Front line youth care experience preferred Preference will be given to applicants with experience: + Working with Indigenous & vulnerable populations
+ Liaising with community resources
+ Supporting youth with exceptionalities, gang involvement, intergenerational trauma/PTSD/CPTSD, experiencing current/previous exploitation, & managing substance use and/or mental health concerns.







Requirements (Skills & Competencies)




An unrestricted Saskatchewan driver's license

Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance

Cultural sensitivity required Demonstrated mastery of official SCP sanctioned approaches (Nurtured Heart Approach, Youth Centred Care, Harm Reduction, & Trauma Informed Care) Strongly developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, & communication skills Well developed time management skills, organisational Skills, & attention to detail Preference will be given to individuals with CPR/First-Aid (B), Conflict Resolution, Crisis Intervention (DPVS), ASIST (Suicide Intervention), Mental Health First Aid & Water Safety



Duties & Responsibilities (Outcomes to be monitored quarterly)




Youth Advocacy & Support




Medication administration as directed Monitor youth during quiet hours Knowing the whereabouts and ensuring the safety of the youth overnight Checking in with youth if they return home past curfew Mediating between youth when conflicts occur Managing crisis situations Being a positive role model and mentor Preparing lunches for the next day Ensuring youth are out of bed and getting ready for school or day programs Transportation to school as required

Case Management




Communicate with evening staff and morning staff at

EVERY

shift change (including but not limited to incidents & disclosures, medications, youth whereabouts, and any additional pertinent information or emergent situations) Completing all logs and designated documentation before the end of

EVERY

shift (including but not limited to case notes, journals, communication logs, medication administration records, incident and disclosure reports, etc.)

Program Development & Administration




Attend regular staff meetings Read and review all pertinent information and communication (i.e. Incident reports, communications logs, case notes, journals, policies, procedures, emails, etc) Maintain a working knowledge of current Agency procedures and guidelines Completing night-time cleaning checklist Maintain Safety Standards (Including but not limited to completing regular fire drills, checking smoke detector, safety checking the premises, and reporting findings to the Case Manager) Other tasks as assigned by your Case Manager: e.g. supporting SCP fundraising/social entrepreneurial initiatives etc.
