Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Addictions Councillor to join our team. This role is focused on providing support and guidance to young individuals struggling with addiction issues. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a background in case management, and experience working with children. Bilingual candidates fluent in both English and Cree are highly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for youth dealing with addiction. Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to support youth in their recovery journey. Facilitate group therapy sessions and workshops aimed at educating youth about addiction and coping strategies. Maintain accurate case files and documentation using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Collaborate with families, schools, and community organizations to create a supportive network for youth. Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on analysis of individual needs. Utilize strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases effectively while ensuring timely follow-ups. Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance counseling skills.

Qualifications

Experience working with children or adolescents in a counseling or supportive role is essential. Bilingual proficiency in English and Cree is preferred but not mandatory. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information clearly. Proven case management experience, demonstrating effective time management and organizational abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with solid computer operation skills. Leadership qualities with the ability to supervise group activities effectively. Strong analytical skills for assessing client needs and developing appropriate interventions. Administrative experience that includes maintaining records and documentation accurately.
