YMAP Coordinator - South Central (Part Time)

Salary: $19.95/hour - 22.17/hour

What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;
Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Human Services, Education, Social Work or Humanities
Experience and/or desire to work with newcomer youth
Experience in leading and facilitating groups, particularly around topics such as leadership, philanthropy and job-searching skills
Initiative and a strong work ethic
Strong team-work skills as well as the ability to work independently and with low supervision
Critical-thinking skills
Administrative experience and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Reliable transportation (mileage is reimbursed)
Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Duties and responsibilities include:
Work part-time, year-round, in a dynamic program (YMAP) offering support and positive experiences for high school students.
Independently deliver after-school sessions in-person five days each week from September to June for youth with a wide variety of English levels, with some weekends as needed
Run or support summer programming for youth during July and August
Adapt curriculum into daily lesson plans to meet student needs
Deliver topics including: self-esteem, healthy relationships, philanthropy, using Calgary transit, resume writing, global initiatives, and cultural awareness
Work within a team of YMAP Coordinators
Help organize special events for youth
Recruit participants through in-school presentations
Prepare and submit monthly reports, attendance, statistics, and program impact stories
Support program evaluation
Provide drop-in and referrals for participants when needed
Build and maintain relationships with schools and community organizations
Be an ambassador for YMCA programs in the community
Ensure a clean and safe work environment
