CLASSIFICATION:

Food Services Coordinator - 1 Temporary Part-Time (45.00 Hours bi-weekly).




POSITION SCOPE:



Under the direction of the Food and Nutrition Manager, the Food Services Coordinator provides day-to-day leadership in the food service area and provides direct supervision in the absence of the Food Services Supervisor.


RESPONSIBILITIES:




Interviews, hires, and disciplines Food Services staff, in conjunction with the Manager of Food Services, as per established policies and procedures of the Centre. Works with Food Services Supervisor and Production Charge Person to direct and supervise staff. Conducts employee performance appraisals as required. Prepares time schedules for all food services staff and secures replacements as necessary. Ensures effective ordering. Participates in food costing analysis. Maintains petty cash. Participates in Inservice and staff development programs as appropriate. Committee responsibilities include Food Services CQI Committee and Food Services Staff meetings and other committees as determined by the Manager. Assists in the evolution of standardized recipes and portion control to ensure high quality products and minimal waste. Contributes to the development and upholding of area policies and procedures. Supervises tray service for clients and staff, performs waste checks and supports adjustments to production sheet. Provides coverage in the absence of Food Service Supervisor. Ensures proper portion sizes, adherence to client diet orders, and compliance with established food service procedures. Supervises sanitation and housekeeping procedures. Maintains safety standards. Attends professional meetings and conferences; reviews relevant publications. Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:




Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited university with a major in nutrition and current licensure with regulatory body, in addition to supervisory experience. Ability to read, research, analyzes and interprets general business correspondence and employment legislation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients and other employees. MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Internet/Intranet, Outlook, Avanti Technology, willingness to learn other programs, ERP is considered an asset. Supervisory experience, skills and experience in securing the cooperation of others; team building skills; experience with payroll and scheduling. Courtesy and tact in dealing with clients and other personnel. Must be adaptable and willing to perform a variety of tasks as assigned. Excellent personal hygiene. Pleasant, positive personality and works well with others. Ability to provide basic clinical dietetic coverage when needed for replacements due to vacation etc.
