POSITION SUMMARY

: The position is responsible for supporting all Production, Assembly, and Warehouse staff. Material is to be moved throughout the facilities in a timely and safe manner.

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience operating telehandlers, forklifts, and other heavy equipment to handle long HSS, steel plate, and oversized steel materials.
This role requires attention to safety, teamwork, and precision in yard operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operate a wide range of yard equipment, including telehandlers (zoom boom), top lifts, and forklifts.

Load and unload long HSS, steel plate, and other heavy or oversized steel materials.

Work safely with containers, moving and placing materials with accuracy and control.

Secure loads using appropriate rigging, tarping, and strapping techniques.

Spot and shunt trailers; assist with staging and securing loads prior to transport.

Handle freight documentation, load tickets, and job orders accurately.

Perform daily equipment checks and report maintenance needs.

Maintain yard organization for efficient material flow and safe access.

Comply with all workplace safety standards, PPE requirements, and operational procedures.

Perform other duties as required.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 2+ years' experience as a yard or material handler in a steel, fabrication, or construction environment.

Valid forklift certification (class 7).

Proven experience operating telehandlers (zoom boom/forklift) safely and efficiently.

Skilled in loading/unloading long steel materials, including HSS and steel plate.

Strong understanding of weight distribution, load balance, and rigging techniques.

Proficient with slings, chains, and lifting attachments for various load types.

Knowledge of safe stacking, staging, and securing materials to prevent damage or injury.

Capable of reading load tickets, material tags, job orders, drawings and inventory documents.

Familiar with overhead cranes, forklifts, and material handling equipment.

Understanding workplace safety standards, including hazard awareness and inspections.

Experience organizing yard layouts for storage efficiency and safety.

Able to perform basic maintenance checks on handling equipment (fuel, oil, tires, safety systems).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Must show proficiency in the operation of all necessary equipment

Sitting for extended periods of time

Bending, crouching and reaching

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment and machines
