Position Summary

The Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) is the responsible user of all radiology equipment and performs a variety of standard technical radiological examinations, including fluoroscopy. They prepare and assess patients for procedures, ensuring comfort and safety, and produce high-quality diagnostic images for physician review. In addition, the MRT is responsible for the care and maintenance of all radiology equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure the radiology equipment and auxiliary equipment function correctly and are maintained properly. Follow documented safe operating procedures for the equipment. Practices effective radiation protection, infection control, and safety techniques as applicable. Handle all personal information and all personal health information according to the appropriate governing privacy legislation. Perform quality assurance and quality control activities according to equipment manufacturer's instructions and all applicable industry standards. Ensure all images are saved and filed in the appropriate medical record. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). Previous experience with fluoroscopy in an operating room environment.
