Job Description


:POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Manager Safety & Wellness, is responsible for the analysis, implementation and monitoring of processes and claims related to WSIB claims.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, recommends, coordinates, and monitors administrative processes related to WSIB claims, to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Administers WSIB claims including documentation review and verification of incident/accident reports and Form 7s; reviews and/or participates in accident investigations under the supervision of Safety Specialist.
  • Liaises with WSIB staff on relevant matters, and recommends challenges to benefit entitlement, where appropriate.
  • Liaises with legal counsel on WSIB appeals and represents the Corporation at appeals and hearings.
  • Compiles, maintains, and distributes departmental data/reports related to accidents/incidents, lost time and attendance management.
  • Maintains case files and associated documentation.
  • Audits and verifies WSIB cost statements, invoices, loss of earning calculations and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Provides and/or coordinates training with respect to WSIB claims management, and accident/incident reporting and investigation procedures.
  • Participates in the development of individualized strategies related to claims.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience:
  • Diploma in business administration or a related field; and
  • One to three years experience in a human resources, occupational health and safety, or WSIB claims environment
  • Knowledge of current WSIA and OHSA legislation is required
Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Well-developed presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Must possess superior customer service and teamwork skills
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software and the use of the Internet and e-mail
Assets:
  • Certification as a Registered Nurse/Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
  • Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
  • Must sign and abide by Employee Confidentiality Statement
