Discuss students' writing in one-on-one consultation sessions over Zoom and in person. This is an on-campus position, so tutors must be willing and able to come to the main campus at U of R at least twice a week. Able to communicate with a vast variety of students with differing levels of academic and linguistic skills. Help students develop effective reading and writing strategies. Up to date knowledge of learning strategies (time management, note taking, etc.) an asset. Educate students about the writing process, as well as provide support with grammar and mechanics, style, and citations (APA, MLA, Chicago). Help students understand key components of academic writing: essays, reports, research skills. Must be available at least 8 hours a week and be willing to pick up added/empty shifts from time to time.



Position Requirements
Students of all faculties are welcome to apply. Students enrolled in graduate studies will be given preference. Consideration will also be given to senior undergraduate students with relevant experience. Experience in tutoring ESL and/or international students would be an asset but is not a requirement.

Training will be provided.



Must be a registered U of R Student.

Successful applicants will be mentored in the discipline of academic reading and writing.
