Non-Union Instructor - Auxiliary

Scope



The City of Surrey's Recreation Services Division is currently recruiting for auxiliary recreation program instructors to organize and lead a variety of workshops for adults. Do you enjoy teaching and watching people discover their creativity? We are looking for candidates with unique skills and abilities who are passionate about instructing in the community.

Responsibilities



Plans, organizes, implements and instructs workshops for adults which can include but are not limited to: Seasonal Centerpieces, Jewelry, Holiday Wreaths, Knitting, Beading, and Soap Making.

Prepares lesson plans based on program curriculum prior to the start of the program session.

Ensures necessary supplies and equipment list is provided prior to start of session to the supervisor and that they are cleaned and stored away after use.

Creates a supportive and inclusive environment for all participants

Interacts with the public and all internal staff to provide program information.

Adheres to all policy, procedures and guidelines

Performs administrative tasks necessary to support the program.



Qualifications



Current Emergency First Aid with CPR-C and AED certification.

Experience working with adults in a recreation setting.

Formal training and experience or post secondary qualifications in a related field is an asset.

Creative and energetic teaching style where the participants are engaged in the activities.

Excellent leadership, organizational and customer service skills.

Conditions of Employment



This position requires completion of a Police Information Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check.
