Summary
We are seeking a Working Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Ottawa. In this pivotal role, you will oversee operations within our manufacturing facilities, ensuring optimal production processes that align with our mission of delivering high-quality packaging solutions. Your leadership will be essential in driving efficiency and sustainability across our operations.
Responsibilities
Supervising and coordinating daily operations within the production and shipping departments.
Ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Monitoring production schedules and workflows to maximize efficiency, managing production changes due to issues that may arise.
Managing, motivating and training production personnel, fostering a team-oriented environment.
Implementing process improvements to minimize costs and enhance production quality with safety in mind.
Preparing and reviewing operational reports and schedules to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Confirming accuracy of data entered in MRP system.
Ensuring accurate collection and complete weekly reporting of departmental KPI's.
Overseeing safety of operations and adherence to health and safety regulations.
Implementing discipline when necessary.
Production:
Follow production plan and coordinate production work orders to ensure on-time completion.
Coordinate work with team members according to requirements.
Beginning with training shifts on day shift - 7:00am to 3:30pm then moving to a cross shift then moving to evening shift.
Evening Shift Supervisor's works approximately 10.25 hours beginning at 15:10pm to 1:55am this enables you to meet with day shift supervisors to transfer information. Evening shift employees begin at 15:25pm to 1:55am - Monday through Thursday.
Set up production equipment and perform production work as needed.
Operate a counter balance and reach forklifts as needed.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must have minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing/production environment as team lead or production supervisor.
Having 2 yr post-secondary education in Mechanical, Production Technology or equivalent is an asset.
Must have own transportation to and from work as Transit is unavailable.
Ability to read/understand drawings/specifications and fluent with basic measurement devices (imperial & Metric)
Forklift experience an asset or willingness to learn.
Exhibit safe work ethics is a must.
Demonstrate a positive, engaged contributor style attitude and communication.
Quick learner with technical capabilities to set up and operate production equipment.
Organization skills, detail-oriented and quality-conscious.
Have strong leadership skills along with good communication and interpersonal skills.
Have the ability to react and adjust to support urgent unscheduled production demands.
Working Conditions:
The position requires continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside, work around machinery, work on ladders, work on forklifts. You must be willing to practice safety while at Smith Induspac and always follow Policies and procedures.
