What will you do?

You will represent Prospect while you work with employers to help connect them to a diverse and inclusive workforce. You will do well in this role if you enjoy building strong relationships and connecting with people. The role requires strong event planning, project management and organizational skills. You will also need to be highly knowledgeable in effectively integrating people in under-represented labour pools into organizations. You will listen to the needs of employers, identifying gaps and helping them create a culture of diversity and inclusion. The WFA provides direct services to business through the coordination of job fairs, hiring events and informational events.

Networking & Employer Engagement

  • Connect to, builds, and maintains rapport with Prospect\xe2\x80\x99s existing network of employers
  • Actively seek out new relationships and develops relationships through regular communication
  • Stay current on Prospect programs to inform and educate employers on our services
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events, conferences, trade shows and job fairs to increase awareness and stay abreast of latest best practices
  • Provides strategic support and action plans to assist employers with developing inclusive work environments
  • Provide relevant and up-to-date information on how to help employers discover new pools of skilled workers in demographics they may not have considered
  • Share information on current and future labour market and workforce trends with employers
  • Maintain a strong understanding of organizational culture and issues facing employers with the current economy across a variety of industries
  • Dispel myths and works to remove stigmas attached to the employment of underrepresented demographics in the community
Delivery Events
  • Market and secure employers to participate and/or speak at events
  • Engage with employers to determine current/future needs and event topics
  • Work with the Events Administrator to plan venue, select speakers, coordinate accessibility requirements, build marketing material, utilize social media and community partners, as well as other event logistics
  • Liaise with the employer to follow-up on discussions, complete satisfaction surveys and secure references
  • Coordinate with the Prospect team to maximize the benefit of events for clients and employers
  • Ensures employer data is accurately entered and managed within Prospect\xe2\x80\x99s CRM system
What does it take to do this job?
  • Some post-secondary education and/or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience will be considered for this role
  • Demonstrable problem-solving skills, with the ability to determine root causes of complex issues and arrive at sound workforce solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively connect and build rapport with decision makers
  • Comfortable continually developing knowledge and familiarity with the Alberta labour market, equity, skill alignment/skill gaps and workforce development and planning initiatives
  • Consistently exhibits professionalism and interacts with all stakeholders with tact and diplomacy
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Excellent communicator with strong public speaking, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Comfortable with internet research, social media applications, various presentation software/programs and related presentation equipment.
  • Champions Prospect\xe2\x80\x99s goals, vision, mission, and brand pillars both inside and outside the organization
Further Notes:
  • All employees must pass a background check
  • A reliable vehicle and valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license is required for in-town travel
  • Some travel throughout Alberta is required
  • All employees must be flexible to work from the office as well as from home based on the position and program requirements
  • Some weekend and evening work is required for this role.
