Job Description


The Edmonton Police Service requires one (1) individual to provide administrative support to the Emergency Communications & Operations Branch (ECOMB). The successful candidates will assume the following responsibilities:

  • Sorting and distributing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Photocopying reports and other documents.
  • Performing data entry using Excel, Word, One Note, and other tools.
  • Preparing pay attendance forms.
  • Tracking diary dates and supporting branch project management using SmartSheets and other tools.
  • Recording meeting minutes and preparing agendas.
  • Booking travel related activities.
  • Coordinate all paperwork and correspondence coming into the Branch.
  • Performing general office duties.
  • Assisting with scheduling for Emergency Communications Centre (ECC) staff.
  • Assisting with calendars, meeting requests, and boardroom bookings.
  • Maintaining and ordering office supplies at both sites.
  • Completing CARM entries as required.
  • Maintaining divisional files and databases.
  • Operating a City vehicle.
  • Building Excel work sheets.
  • Other duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications
  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects with emphasis on general office practices, or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college.
  • An Office Administration certificate or similar would be an asset.
  • A minimum of two (2) year's progressively responsible and diversified office experience. Previous work experience in an Emergency Communications Centre (ECC) environment would be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, One Note, Powerpoint and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in CARM is required. Familiarity with CPIC, EPROS, JOIN, and/or other police-related systems would be an asset.
  • Strong reading comprehension, as well as verbal and written communication skills, are required.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40-50WPM is required.
  • Applicant must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Willing to work in two separate site locations (Police Headquarters & Southeast Division) as requested.
  • Applicants may be tested.
  • As part of your pre-hire screening you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work:40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program. Some evening work may be required.Salary Range:21B, Salary Grade: 007, $23.787 - $29.534 (Hourly), $1,903.00 - $2,362.70 (Bi-Weekly), $49,667.26 - $61,666.99 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.General:
