We are a growing Canadian wood manufacturing company with a fully operational mill and wood shop located in Barrie, ON. We specialize in high-quality domestic and exotic hardwoods, live edge slabs, and custom handcrafted furniture. Now, we are expanding into Downtown Toronto -- bringing premium wood materials and woodworking experiences closer to the city's makers, designers, and DIY community.
We are looking for a passionate woodworker to lead and grow our new downtown location.
Position Overview
This role combines woodworking expertise with retail and community engagement. You will be responsible for setting up and managing a new wood retail space, promoting it locally, and helping Toronto customers access unique materials and woodworking services.
As the business grows, this role will expand into hosting workshops, assisting customers with custom project orders, and representing our brand in the Toronto design and maker community.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in setting up and organizing the downtown wood retail space
Receive, prepare, and merchandise wood products and woodworking supplies
Greet, educate, and support customers choosing materials for their projects
Maintain a safe and tidy workshop environment
Create awareness through advertising and community engagement
Facebook Marketplace, Instagram, local groups, local partnerships, etc.
Provide basic woodworking guidance and support to customers
Support orders for custom furniture -- taking measurements and project details
Future development of woodworking classes and hands-on experiences
Track inventory and coordinate restocking from our Barrie wood shop
Qualifications
Hands-on woodworking experience (professional or hobbyist level)
Strong customer service and communication skills
Comfort with basic tools and safe shop practices
Social media and advertising skills (Facebook, Instagram, online marketplace)
Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset -- excited to build something new
Ability to occasionally lift and move wood products (~50-100 lbs)
Nice to Have
Experience hosting workshops or teaching woodworking
Retail sales experience
Knowledge of hardwood species and finishing products
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.20-$37.19 per hour
Work Location: In person
