Job Description

We are currently looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Wood Furniture Cabinet Maker Assembler to join our Plant Operations Team on our Morning Shift. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that wood office furniture parts are machined correctly prior to the assembly of office furniture.
  • Operate table saw to machine custom parts for making furniture.
  • Operate drill and chop saw for making wood parts for assembly of office furniture.
  • Use measuring tape, calipers and gages to verify drawing dimensions of furniture parts.
  • Able to make jigs and fixtures to use for the assembly of furniture.
  • Able to use hand routers, drills, hand saws and woodworking tools for making furniture.
  • Able to read production shop drawings and sketches of furniture and furniture parts.
  • Sand wood surfaces prior to the assembly of furniture.
  • Repair furniture when required, to ensure that it meets the drawing requirements.
  • Trim parts on table saw to be used for furniture assembly.
  • Use ship drawing to assembly furniture and inspect assembly furniture to ensure that it meets the drawing requirements.
  • Able to trim parts, fit parts and subassemblies, using nail guns, screws, and other furniture fasteners, including wood glue.
  • Must be able to operate and set up all types of woodworking Machines to fabricate wood parts, fixtures for furniture.
  • Ensure that areas around woodworking machines and assembly stations are clean at all times.
  • Understand the operation of wood boring machines and drilling machines.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years working in Woodworking and Furniture assembly, or a Manufacturing and/ or warehouse environment.
  • Must have technical knowledge of furniture assembly.
  • Must understand basic furniture techniques of assembly.
  • Must understand Furniture Quality.
  • Must understand good Furniture manufacturing and production methods.
  • Must be experienced with understanding how to read shop drawings for furniture assembly and machining accurately.
  • Must be able to read tape measure, calipers, and gages.
  • Proficient fluency to communicate, understand and write in English.
  • Must be able to follow verbal instructions from Lead Hand, Supervisor or Management.
  • Provide support and communicate effectively with team members as required.
  • When required, able to lift materials up to 50 pounds and to carry, move, manipulate and/or position them and to move, bend, twist or maintain awkward body positions while performing work.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for 8.0 hours per shift, as required.
  • Must be able to carry small parts from workstation to other workstations.
  • Must be able to complete assembly of furniture on schedule and as assigned.
  • Has good hand and eye co-ordination and muscular control sufficient to operate tools or equipment and to see closely and/or listen intently in order to achieve very detailed results and/or detect flaws or errors.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must understand good housekeeping practices.
