Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Outreach Services and the general supervision of the Director of Outreach, the Financial Literacy Coordinator will respond to and provide financial education needs. This individual will support from a trauma-informed, harm reduction and client-centered approach to women and families with complex barriers. Working in collaboration with all Women's Housing teams at the YWCA Regina Kikaskihtanaw Centre for Women and Families in meeting the needs for housing, food security, and safety, and to understand their personal finances
Responsibilities:
Service Delivery
Deliver culturally sensitive, accessible, and inclusive financial literacy services to diverse community members
Assist in conducting needs assessments to tailor workshops and resources to the target population
Support the delivery of in-person and/or virtual workshops, presentations, and one-on-one sessions
Provide clear, accurate, and easy-to-understand information on financial topics such as:
Budgeting and saving
Understanding credit and debt
Banking basics
Avoiding financial scams
Refer participants to appropriate internal or external services for additional support (e.g., housing, employment, financial counseling)
Ensure a respectful, nonjudgmental, and supportive environment for all program participants
Gather participant feedback to improve service quality and relevance
Assist with the preparation and distribution of educational materials (flyers, handouts, digital content)
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all participant interactions
Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of program participants, attendance, and workshop outcomes
Collect, input, and manage data for reporting purposes using spreadsheets, databases, or program-specific tools
Prepare reports and summaries of outreach activities for internal use and funder requirements
Assist with scheduling workshops, meetings, and community events
Draft and distribute outreach communications such as flyers, emails, and social media posts (as needed)
Track inventory of outreach materials and request replenishments when needed
Support the preparation of materials for presentations, including handouts and visual aids
File and organize participant intake forms, consent documents, and follow-up records in accordance with privacy policies
Respond to inquiries from community members and partner organizations in a timely and professional manner
Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and planning meetings as required
Assist with general office tasks such as photocopying, filing, and organizing outreach supplies
Qualifications:
Experience working with Indigenous communities and cultures.
Demonstrated experience working with the complex needs of people experiencing homelessness.
Passionate about financial empowerment, education, and community service
Knowledge of the Child Welfare system, Trauma Informed Care, and Family Violence would be an asset.
Knowledge about mental health issues and substance use disorder and how to respond to them (Naloxone training is an asset)
Ability to work independently and with a team.
Accurate record keeping ability and basic computer skills (knowledge of HIFIS would be an asset)
Good communication and organizational abilities
Multilingual abilities or lived experience in the communities served is a strong asset
Crisis intervention skills
Awareness of colonization and the intergenerational impacts it has had on women and families
Respect for women and children of various backgrounds.
