Lakeland College is seeking a dynamic coach to lead its Women's Basketball program on the Lloydminster campus to the next level commencing the 2025 -2026 season.

Lakeland and Rustler athletics have taken great strides forward over the last several years to provide a competitive and positive athletic and academic experience to our student- athletes. Key Responsibilities

Program Development:

Establish and grow the women's basketball program at Lakeland College for the 2025-26 season, including recruiting student-athletes and building a competitive program that matches well with Lakeland's culture.

Vision and Strategy:

Develop and implement a long-term vision and strategy for the program, focusing on creating a culture of excellence, community and integrity.

Recruitment:

Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who can contribute to the team's success and experience individual success in the classroom and community.

Player Development:

Provide guidance and support to student-athletes in their academic, athletic, and personal development.

Team Management:

Supervise and mentor assistant coaches, through effective collaboration and communication within the coaching staff.

Compliance:

Lead the team and coaches in a professional way that complies with Lakeland, ACAC, CCAA and SafeSport rules and regulations.

Community Engagement:

Promote the women's basketball program with our Lakeland community, including organizing and participating in community service activities.

Administrative Duties:

Manage the program's budget, collaborate in revenue generation for athletics, assist in coordination of team travel, and handle other administrative tasks as needed.

Support Event Management:

Assist with the organization and management of athletic events as required


Job Requirements

Must be eligible to work in Canada CPR & First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain). Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Must be able to meet all requirements for National travel (to meetings and National Championships as required) The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Police Record Check and/or vulnerable sector check, safe sport training and other screening requirements. Conduct team practices and attend weekend competitions against ACAC and CCAA competition as well as exhibition competitions in other provinces. Work cooperatively with Rustler athletic administration staff on fundraising and community relations activities

Coaching Certification:

Must possess a Train to Compete certification

Coaching Experience:

Minimum

3-5 years

of coaching experience at the post-secondary, high- performance club, or provincial level.

Skills & Competencies:



Technical & Tactical Knowledge:



In-depth understanding of basketball strategies, game preparation, and skill development. Ability to analyze opponents and implement effective game plans.

Leadership & Team Management:



Proven ability to mentor and develop student-athletes on and off the court. Experience managing assistant coaches and support staff.

Recruitment & Program Development:



Strong network within Canadian basketball and ability to recruit high-quality student-athletes. Knowledge of U SPORTS, CCAA, or provincial college league eligibility rules and regulations.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:



Ability to effectively communicate with players, staff, administration, and media. Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution and team building.

Ethical & Inclusive Coaching Approach:



Commitment to Safe Sport principles and fostering a positive, respectful team culture. Experience working with diverse student-athletes and promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in sport.

Administrative & Organizational Skills:



Strong ability to plan and execute team practices, game strategies, and travel logistics. Experience with budgeting, fundraising, and sponsorships is an asset.

Employment Terms

Compensation:




This is an Employment Contract at the Lloydminster Campus, Salary Range for the position is $40,000 - $50,000 per annum depending on education and experience.
