The company is seeking to fill several 'Wireline Field Technician' positions for the winter 2025-2026 season with potential to be developed into a 'Wireline Supervisor' in the spring of 2026. Previous open-hole wireline experience is a benefit, but the successful candidate will be trained in specific job duties.

The job
The work is 85% field based with most jobs occurring in the Fort McMurray area. Thus, you must be willing to work schedules involving long hours in remote conditions away from home. Shifts will often last up to 12 hours a day and up to 21 days at a time at remote sites. Accommodations are primarily camp based with camp and travel provided.
Primary duties of the Field Technician include handling sensitive open-hole wireline tools, attaching equipment to drill rigs, driving off road, fueling up units, performing maintenance, ensuring de-icing equipment is working, and many other tasks throughout a shift.
Safety gear and winter work gear is provided when applicable per regulations.
A 2 week training program will occur at the Red Deer facility prior to field deployment.
Remuneration
Competitive pay is divided into a set salary and tiered field bonus depending on the daily tasks performed. Benefits are available after 3 months of proven employment.

Candidate must have: First Aid, H2S Alive, TDG/WHMIS, Clean Driver's Abstract
Preference given for those that also have: OSSA/BSO, Wildlife Awareness, CTEC/GODI or CAODC Driving, Fatigue Management, and/or Hours of Service.
A criminal record check and driver's abstract will be performed.

Education/experience preference:
1. Preference given for Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering, Earth Sciences, Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, or Mathematics.
2. College diploma or other post-secondary also considered.
3. Experience in the industry.
Advancement
Advancement to a Field Supervisor position is possible when proving outstanding capability of performing duties as the Technician for the winter, showing eagerness and true interest wireline geophysics, and a strong commitment to safety and company procedure. Training will occur in Spring 2026.

Safety.
Must be a safety minded individual and committed to ongoing safety improvement. Must be willing and able to fill out daily log books, take part in safety meetings, field level risk assessments, and other required safety activities.
Attitude.
Positive attitude even under pressure and stressful situations. Proactive approach to duties especially when there is down time. Work well with others and be personable and professional to clients.
Fitness.
Must be flexible and physically fit. Tasks are not labour intensive, but do require motor skills and dexterity. A good benchmark is being able to lift 75lbs overhead.
Drug Free.
Period.
Driving/Vehicles.
Off road driving skill is absolutely required as often the vehicles we drive are the only wheel based unit on remote job sites. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and strategy off road is essential. Class 5 Operator's License or higher is required - clean abstract needed for insurance purposes. Should be able to drive a manual transmission.
Details Oriented.
Meticulous attention to detail is required to properly complete tasks, adhere to site specific rules, and to follow company and regulator procedures.
Procedural.
Tasks are procedure based and require a desire and ability to follow specific directions in a specific order without deviation.
Mechanical.
Must have experience with basic hand tools and able to perform basic repairs & maintenance. Ex: Changing oil on a generator outside when it's snowing.
Computer/Technology.
Very strong general computer skills required to advance to Wireline Field Supervisor position. A very solid working knowledge of Windows based software is fundamental.
Electronics.
Working knowledge of electronics fundamentals is required to assist with troubleshooting line issues, as well as general understanding of electrical systems. Ex) re-wiring a 12V work light on a truck.
Independence.
Working alone, or without supervision occurs on most sites. Often, the tasks are to completed on as available schedule and require a proactive approach.
Communication.
Be able to follow concise instructions and report to management effectively.

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
