The Winery Equipment Operator supports both cellar and bottling operations, assisting with day-to-day production, packaging, and order assembly tasks. This role ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with food safety and quality standards. As a cross-functional team member, the operator contributes to multiple departments while maintaining a clean, organized, and detail-focused work environment. This position offers growth opportunities for individuals interested in developing technical skills and leadership capabilities, including training toward advanced equipment operation and acting as a backup to lead hands in production coordination and line oversight.

The teammate will be responsible for -

Bottling & Packaging Operations

Support all bottling and packaging tasks, including loading/unloading bottles, labeling, hand-packing, palletizing, and rework. Inspect packaging materials and maintain a clean, organized bottling workspace. Follow SOPs and GMPs to ensure quality and safety in all packaging activities. Perform routine inventory counts and assist in tracking packaging materials.

Cellar Operations

Assist with wine processing operations such as fermentation, filtration, blending, and transfers. Operate pumps, hoses, valves, and other equipment to move and treat wine and juice. Perform material additions and record tank readings. Clean and sanitize tanks, equipment, and cellar areas; support bulk wine receiving. Ensure accurate records and follow safety, HACCP, and sanitation procedures.

Technical & Lead Support

Serve as backup for lead hands, helping coordinate line activities and ensuring production goals are met. Participate in training and cross-training programs for bottling and packaging equipment. Perform line setups, changeovers, and start-ups; operate and sanitize fillers, rinsers, and carbonation unit. Monitor line quality and adjust equipment settings (including PLCs) for optimal performance. Assist with maintenance tasks and mentor/troubleshoot with team members as needed.

The teammate will require -

Forklift and Scissor Lift License (training and certification can be provided on-site if not currently held) WHMIS Training High School Diploma or GED; HACCP training an asset 1-2 years' experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred Strong communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of safe equipment operation Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Strong safety awareness and commitment to attendance and punctuality Must pass Andrew Peller Limited's Physical Agility Test

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Operations Manager Indirect Reports: Winemaker, Bottle Shop Lead Hand, Celler Lead Hand Direct Reports: None

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Physical Demands: Frequent lifting (up to 22 kg), standing, walking, bending, stair and ladder climbing. Working Conditions: Indoor work with exposure to temperature variations. Schedule: Day shifts with occasional overtime to support bottling requirements. Safety: Adherence to PPE policies (e.g., safety shoes, hair nets, eye and hearing protection). Environment: Operation near moving machinery and typical manufacturing noise levels (PPE provided). Mental Demands: High attention to detail, adaptability to changing tasks and inter-departmental communication skills
