Job Description

We are hiring for the 2025 season in our wine shop! We are looking for a friendly, keen, motivated, organized and independent individual to join our retail service team.

L'Acadie Vineyards is Nova Scotia's first certified organic vineyard and winery and North America's first certified Biocyclic Vegan farm and winery. Our owner and winemaker, Bruce Ewert, has a deep passion for the art of winemaking with 30+ years of experience including work in the Okanagan, California and Australia. Bruce and Pauline moved to Gaspereau, Nova Scotia from British Columbia with their young family in 2004 to found L'Acadie Vineyards. Pauline has deep roots in Nova Scotia, with family farming reaching back nine generations. Distinguished for releasing the region's first traditional method sparkling wines, L'Acadie Vineyards is family owned and operated and proud of their commitment to sustainability through ethical, organic and vegan agriculture and winemaking to produce internationally awarded wines.

Experience in the hospitality industry and formal education in related fields (tourism, hospitality, winemaking, viticulture, WSET certification, etc.) is an asset, though not required.

As of December 2024, all employees serving wine will be required to have Nova Scotia's responsible beverage service certification, Serve Right. Having this certification already is an asset, but if not the course will be provided during training.

Responsibilities:



Achieve sales objectives while providing consistent, engaging, on-brand experiences Greet guests, conduct tastings and tours, sell wine, operate POS and manage contacts Independently manage day-to-day tasks Prepare online orders and respond to inquiries regarding online store Tell our story with pride and passion Maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere Work in a dynamic and sometimes fast-paced environment Enter tasting appointments in our online system Manage shelf displays, fridges, tasting room wines and other inventories Monitor emails and phone messages Occasional work in production including, but not limited to, packaging orders, labelling, bottling and disgorging sparkling wines Regular cleaning and maintenance of shared spaces Ensure the interior and exterior of retail areas are clean and presentable

Qualifications:



Must be at least 19 years of age Must obtain (or already have) certification from Nova Scotia's responsible beverage service program, Serve Right*
Must enjoy tasting and learning about wine Strong customer service skills Dependable, punctual and flexible Must be able to work weekends Must have reliable transportation to and from winery Prior wine knowledge is an asset, though not required Prior retail and sales experience is an asset, though not required Strong verbal and written communication skills in English Ability to speak French is an asset, though not required Confidently able to speak in front of a crowd Ability to lift a case of wine weighing approximately 45lbs Ability to be on feet for about 7 hours a day Ability to self-manage time, think outside the box and problem solve Ability to work independently and collaboratively

On the job training will be provided to prepare individuals for the upcoming season. Compensation will start at $16.50/hour + tips. This is a full-time seasonal position, offering approximately 30-35 hours per week May through October.
